About Marin Rowing Association
Marin Rowing Association - Greenbrae's nationally recognized rowing club where junior and adult rowers train on Corte Madera Creek in one of America's most successful community rowing programs.
Marin Rowing Association - Greenbrae's World Record-Setting Rowing Club, Where Corte Madera Creek Produces National Champions Since 1968
Before most of Marin finishes its first coffee, shells are already on the water at Drakes Landing. Since 1968, Marin Rowing Association has built one of the most decorated junior rowing pipelines in the country while maintaining a broad adult and beginner pathway.
Founded by coach RC "Bob" Cumming with Redwood High athletes and a small adult group, MRA grew from a local experiment into a county-wide and Bay Area-wide program drawing athletes from numerous schools.
Results and Legacy
MRA's competitive record includes national championship medals, multiple world records, repeated major-regatta dominance, and alumni who advanced to Junior National Teams, collegiate rowing, World Championships, and Olympic-level competition.
The annual Erg-A-Thon world-record performances and major regatta achievements made MRA one of the most respected names in youth rowing in the U.S.
Programs for Every Level
MRA runs a full stack of pathways: junior competition teams, development teams, masters adult programs, novice learn-to-row pathways, erg fitness offerings, and summer camps for middle and high school students.
The breadth of this programming allows first-time rowers and advanced athletes to train within the same mission-driven club structure.
Built by the Community
The current boathouse facility was developed through sustained member and parent effort and supports year-round training with ergometers, strength equipment, docks, shells, and direct creek access.
MRA has also maintained a clear inclusion commitment, with scholarship support intended to reduce financial barriers for youth and families.
