Sausalito Lighted Boat Parade

Onlookers gather at Gabrielson Park and along the downtown boardwalk to watch illuminated boats glide through the night. It is one of the most visually striking free winter events in the Bay Area and one of Marin County's signature holiday traditions.

Now in Its 39th Year - A Winterfest Sausalito Tradition

Part of Winterfest Sausalito, the Lighted Boat Parade has grown over nearly four decades into one of the county's most anticipated annual gatherings. What began as a local celebration on the water now draws visitors from across the region, while still feeling unmistakably community-rooted.

The Parade - A Glittering Procession Through Richardson Bay

The parade launches from the Marinship area and travels south along the Sausalito shoreline, with prime viewing in downtown, near the ferry, and along the Bridgeway promenade. Boats typically begin around 6:00 PM, loop through the waterfront route, and return toward Gabrielson Park for the fireworks finale.

Participating vessels range from small family boats wrapped in lights to larger themed entries with elaborate holiday displays. The personality and creativity of each crew are what make the parade feel alive year after year.

The Fireworks - A Winter Display Over the Bay

As the parade concludes, fireworks illuminate Richardson Bay and the Sausalito waterfront. The reflection of lights on the water, the skyline in the distance, and the festive crowd atmosphere combine into one of Marin's most memorable December nights.
